{"id":2611,"date":"2018-11-14T15:24:00","date_gmt":"2018-11-14T15:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/true-course.com\/site\/?p=2611"},"modified":"2018-11-14T15:24:00","modified_gmt":"2018-11-14T15:24:00","slug":"pilot-shortage-is-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/true-course.com\/web\/2018\/11\/14\/pilot-shortage-is-here\/","title":{"rendered":"Pilot Shortage is Here"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The pilot shortage is here, and it\u2019s the result of baby-boomers\u2019 retirement and the much lower number of military trained pilots over the past few decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We believe the pilot shortage is good for aviation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>For the first time in a long time, the flight school business is a good business to be in since demand is so high. Even while finding and holding onto CFI\u2019s is much harder than before.<\/li><li>The numbers of aircraft orders for training purposes is much higher than any other time in recent history.<\/li><li>Pilots are now getting starting salaries that are much higher than in decades past, a just reward for a very expensive education.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The shortage is forcing companies to hire pilots using lower experience requirements. This can be perceived negatively from a safety perspective. But the reality is that the experience requirements we had in place were created when jets had steam gauges.
